WHOLE LIFE COACHING

BRING YOUR WHOLE SELF TO LIFE

While I was working to set up my executive consulting practice, a friend, who was also a client, told me that I had to set up a personal coaching track, and she had the perfect tag line: “Bring Your Whole Self to Work.” It was brilliant, I told her, except that I didn’t want to limit myself only to job coaching. Rather, I wanted to take a holistic approach, helping my clients to flourish in all aspects of their life, whether they worked in the home, outside the home, or not at all. I want you to be able to bring your whole self to life, in both senses of that expression: I want you to feel refreshed and revived, to always have your best to give, and to offer the gift of your whole self to your whole life.

How will I do that?

How You Work

Whether you are a stay at home mom or dad who feels overwhelmed or a career-minded individual who needs some balance in your life, part of your life can be classified as “work.” The real challenge is to recognize what constitutes work in your life and figure out whether it is what you want to do, and whether you are “working” at capacity. It’s not always about career change; sometimes it is just about building out different aspects of your life to create more balance.

How You Play

Do you have fun every day? Do you wake up in the morning and look forward to all of the things you can accomplish during the day? Do you rest at the end of each day feeling grateful for everything you got to do and see and experience? We used to call this being “high on life,” and while that may not be for everyone, we all need to be having more fun, because joy brings immense gifts into our lives and energizes us through the tougher times.

How You Love

It’s a cliché, but it’s also true: we all need love in our lives. This doesn’t necessarily have to mean romance, but it can be. It can also be friendship, family, pets, and any other healthy relationship that makes us feel connected to others. Relationships give our lives a deeper sense of purpose and a broader impression of meaning, and the more open we are to loving and feeling loved, the more we feed the whole self, and enrich our whole life.
